In this book over 1,330 species are illustrated in full colour, including a few from neighbouring countries which might be expected to occur in the region. 96 colour plates are arranged in familiar Peters-based order, illustrating every species and distinct subspecies, as well as female plumages if different and some juveniles. Full indexes to both English and scientific names (including alternative names), as well as a 'quick index' to plates by family or group name for easy reference are provided.
